Veneers
The dental care specialists at Cozy Family Dental are proud to provide our patients with custom-fit porcelain veneers that are designed to help improve the overall appearance of their teeth. Veneers consist of ultra-thin, wafer-like shells that are bonded to teeth in order to enhance their appearance. Since veneers are both incredibly simple and versatile, more and more patients are opting to receive this popular method of dental treatment.
Some uses for veneers include:
- Color enhancement
- Repair crooked or misshapen teeth
- Fix chipped or damaged teeth
- Resize teeth
With an ultra-thin design, veneers are virtually undetectable, having the full appearance of healthy white tooth enamel. Our veneers are constructed from porcelain, which makes them fully resistant to staining from tobacco use and beverages such as coffee and wine. With proper care, veneers can last for an entire decade or longer.
A standard application of veneers requires two separate visits to our clinic. The process is started by shaving off some of the enamel of the tooth in order to accommodate for the space that the veneer will occupy. Next, impressions of the tooth are taken in order to determine the best fit and color possible. This information makes it possible to create a personalized veneer in a special dental laboratory. The session concludes with the patient being fitted with a temporary restoration that is designed to last until their custom-fitted veneer is completed.
Once the patient’s custom veneer is ready, they will return for the second half of the procedure. The designated tooth is cleaned and treated with etching gel so that the veneer can be attached properly. Using a special adhesive agent, the veneer is carefully applied to the tooth for a secure fit. After the process is completed, the dental care specialist will provide the patient with instructions on how to care for the newly-installed veneer.
