Composite bonding
Composite bonding is a quick and easy method for improving one’s smile. The process involves using tooth-colored resin to restore both the appearance and function of damaged or decayed teeth.
Some reasons for receiving composite bonding include:
- Filling cavities
- Repairing teeth that are damaged or decayed
- Tooth recoloring
- Fixing spacing issues
- Evening the length of teeth
- Correcting misshapen teeth
- Protecting tooth roots
In most cases, composite bonding only requires one visit to our office. Our dental care experts start by cleaning the designated tooth and determining the exact shade of resin that will be used. Any deterioration or decay that is present within the tooth will be removed if necessary. Next, the tooth will be treated with composite material in multiple layers. By using a special dental curing light, each layer will be individually hardened.
Once the desired thickness has been achieved, the composite material will be given the opportunity to fully harden so that the proper consistency is attained. The process is finished by polishing the tooth so that it has a nice, even finish and a natural appearance. With proper care, the bonding should last between five and ten years.
